As Citizen at Work expands in the Americas, the dedication of Air Liquide volunteers is being recognized nationally. On May 31, at a ceremony held at the Houston Food Bank, Air Liquide was recognized with The President’s Volunteer Service Award. Air Liquide volunteers donated 327 hours at the food bank last year.
Air Liquide U.S. CSR manager Emma Chambers accepted the certificate, letter signed by President Joe Biden and lapel pin on behalf of the company.
“Unbeknownst to me, the food bank nominated Air Liquide for the award,” Chambers said. “It is an honor to receive the award and to know that the food bank recognizes our effort and wants it to be acknowledged at the highest level.”
In 1989, then U.S. President George H. W. Bush presented his vision for “a thousand points of light” during his inaugural address and invited the nation to take action through service to their fellow citizens. One year later, the Points of Light was created, and since that time, more than 2 million nonprofits, individuals and corporations have been recognized.
The award was established to recognize the important role of volunteers in the United States’ strength and national identity. It honors those whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action. The award is administered by the Points of Light and AmeriCorps.
A special thank you to all the volunteers who made this award possible.
