On Thursday, March 30, Air Liquide VP of Energy Transition, Chendhil Periasamy, participated in UT Austin Energy Week in Austin, Texas. This annual event, presented by the UT Energy Institute, focuses on the depth and breadth of research at the University of Texas and brings together both academia and industry experts to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the energy sector in Texas, and the energy transition more broadly.

As a panelist discussing “The Future of Clean Hydrogen in Texas”, Chendhil presented Air Liquide’s history, leadership, and strategy in the hydrogen market. Along with fellow presenters Dave Dankworth, Hydrogen Portfolio Manager, ExxonMobil, Pedro T. Santos, Executive Chairman, Andalusian Energy & CNGmotive and W. Victor Brownlees, Director of Finance, City of Baytown, the panel honed in on hydrogen’s versatility and ability to decarbonize across sectors. This flexibility, and established industrial operations in Texas and surrounding areas, makes the Gulf Coast an ideal location for hydrogen project development and deployment.

UT Austin Energy Week was a great opportunity to discuss the exciting role of hydrogen in the energy transition with my industry peers, and importantly, with the university’s students, many of whom will be the energy professionals of tomorrow. Their commitment to a more sustainable future echoes Air Liquide’s own ambition and it's exciting to have these avenues to foster dialogue and build the collaborations necessary to transition to a clean energy economy with hydrogen at its core. - Chendhil Periasamy, VP, Energy Transition
