Air Liquide welcomes members of the State of Texas Legislature to La Porte Hydrogen facility

On March 8, Air Liquide hosted members of the State of Texas Legislature and guests of the Greater Houston Partnership at our La Porte, Texas hydrogen facility as part of their “ATX2HOU: Beyond the Bayou” event. Legislators from across the state visited several key aspects of the greater Houston area over the course of two days from the Port of Houston, NASA, Toyota Center, Texas Medical Center, and Rodeo Houston. As hydrogen is an emerging topic in Texas, Air Liquide was honored to be one of stops of the event where legislators had the opportunity to tour the site.

During the tour, legislators learned the importance of the production of clean hydrogen and how Air Liquide is supporting projects that are designed to accelerate the hydrogen market. Air Liquide is a proud member of six of the 7 recently announced Hydrogen Hubs through the U.S. Department of Energy, a member of the newly established Hydrogen Production Policy Council, Chair of the Texas Hydrogen Alliance, and operates the world’s largest hydrogen storage cavern in Spindletop Texas. Air Liquide’s landmark investments in hydrogen across the U.S. and Texas demonstrate our commitment to accelerate the hydrogen market while on a path towards a low-carbon future.

Adam Peters, CEO, Air Liquide North America, Andrew Garnett, president, Large Industries North America, and  Katie Ellet, president, Hydrogen Energy and Mobility; gathered with dozens of hydrogen advocates to discuss Air Liquide’s expertise across the entire value chain and showcase with it takes to produce hydrogen and how Texas is becoming one of the leaders of the energy expansion. 

During the tour legislators stopped at stations to discuss with our experts: John Jackson, Abby Derkits, Margaret Ferenz, Iryna LaGrone, Taahira Guzman, Kelsey Smitherman, Melissa Schmitzer, and Chris Connor on how Air Liquide is utilizing its expertise in hydrogen production with its combination of technologies. Including Air Liquide’s proprietary Cryocap™ H2 & Cryocap™ FG technologies that take an economically-efficient carbon capture approach for existing Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) plants in order to achieve deep reductions of CO2 emissions arising from hydrogen production.
