Air Liquide is committed to hydrogen as a driver of the energy transition. In order for hydrogen to make the greatest impact on our future, decisive action must be taken today by industry leaders and public officials. The private sector can lead, and with $1 billion invested in the U.S. hydrogen market already, Air Liquide has helped to establish the hydrogen market of today. But, government policies will play an important role in hydrogen’s market growth and penetration.

Earlier this year, American Air Liquide Holdings, Inc. Chairman and CEO Mike Graff testified before the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing on clean hydrogen. The U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee has jurisdiction over issues related to energy development and last week Mike represented the industrial gas industry.

As a clean energy source and key element to research and development, hydrogen plays a vital role in reducing carbon emissions. Mike highlighted Air Liquide’s leadership role in the hydrogen market of today, and how we’re actively building the hydrogen market of the future, especially in catalyzing clean hydrogen in the mobility, industrial, and energy sectors to ultimately achieve carbon neutrality.

In addition, Mike emphasized the importance of hydrogen in the energy transition and how Air Liquide is a key contributor to hydrogen production. He spotlighted the company’s hydrogen production sites such as our facility in Becancour, Canada and our new plant in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mike’s prevailing message to the committee was this, “While hydrogen alone will not drive the clean energy transition, the clean energy transition will not happen without hydrogen.”
